Texas Toast
| Serves: | 2 |
| Time: | 15 min |
| Work Time: | 5 min |
Ingredients
- White bread, 4 thick slices (1 inch or so thick)
- Vegan shredded mozzarella, 2 cups
- Vegan butter, 3 Tbsp
- Vegan mayo, 1 1/2 Tbsp
- Garlic powder, 1 tsp
- Onion powder, 1/2 tsp
Steps
- Preheat oven to 425.
- Soften the vegan butter.
- Mix the butter, mayo, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Spread that on both sides of your bread slices, and lay them on a
baking tray with parchment paper under them.
- Put the baking tray into the oven for 4 minutes.
- Pull it out, pile some of your cheese atop each of the slices, then
cover them with aluminum foil so the cheese melts.
- Put the baking tray back into the oven for another 4 minutes.
- Take the foil off, turn on Broil, and leave the tray in the oven for
another 2-3 minutes (you are looking for browning on the cheese)
- Eat!
Notes
- Stick butter is better than tub butter - it has less water content so
it will act better.
- Cheese is tricky, Violife mozzarella shreds have worked for me.
- 425 is above the smoke point of most vegan butters so you may set off
your smoke detector doing this.
